Issue
You experienced problems with certain Autodesk® 3ds Max® scene files. They continued to increase in size and took a long time to save.
Solution
Occasionally a 3ds Max® scene may become populated with additional Motion Mixer Reference Targets in the Track View. This causes an increase in both the scene file size and the time it takes to save the file.
You should first verify that the Compress on Save option is set consistently between each save. If this option is not selected, the file size will increase because the data will no longer be compressed.
To correct this issue
Download the attached RemoveMixerReftargs.ms script.
Save the script to the 3ds Max Scripts folder. The default location is C
rogram FilesAutodesk3ds Max 2008Scripts.
In 3ds Max, open the affected scene.
On the MAXScript menu, click Run Script.
In the Run Script dialog box, select the RemoveMixerReftargs.ms file.
All of the Mixer Reference Targets will be removed from the scene. Now, when you save the file, the size will not increase.
