Chapel of Peace

The designed small-scale architecture of the chapel is located in Athens on the western slope of Mount Imitos, within the Kaisariani Landscape Park, in close proximity to the historic Kaisariani Monastery. The proposed structure harmoniously blends the principles of traditional Orthodox design, respecting the guidelines for temple architecture, with a modern approach to form and composition. The object's form draws on archetypal motifs of Greek sacred architecture while maintaining a simplified, contemporary aesthetic. The minimalist volume has been carefully integrated into the natural terrain and forest surroundings. The project utilizes local materials: marble, traditional white plaster, and reinforced concrete, which ensures the structure's durability in a region of high seismic activity. To enhance full integration with nature, a green roof has been designed, strengthening the chapel's connection to the Mediterranean forest landscape.
